Steroid Injections Contaminated with Fungal Meningitis Reach North Carolina
A rare severe type of fungal meningitis has been linked to contaminated steroid injections manufactured out of a Massachusetts based facility. As of October 5, 2012, 23 states had been confirmed as receiving spinal injections from the contaminated lot of medicine, including North Carolina. The company, New England Compounding Center, is licensed to distribute in all 50 states. Thirty-five have been seriously affected by the contaminated injections.
